Keesal, Young & Logan (KYL) is proud to report that it was recognized by the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) with a Distinguished Peer Award for the second time when KYL’s head of IT, Justin Hectus, was named ILTA’s 2014 IT Professional of the Year.  In 2011, KYL was similarly honored with a Distinguished Peer Award in recognition for the firms unique and successful approach to instilling a culture of learning and technological advancement.

KYL’s practical and effective approach to technology has long been considered a gold standard in the legal industry.  Labeled a “powerhouse” by Network World Magazine over a decade ago, KYL has been featured in numerous periodicals, including Fast Company and Inc. Magazine.  In 2003, KYL was the first law firm named to the InfoWorld 100 for their innovative use of wireless technologies.  Today, KYL takes pride in the firm’s “community of experts” who effectively leverage leading edge technology and process to tackle complex challenges on behalf of the firm’s clients.

This was the fifth year of the annual awards program, and ILTA was pleased with the number and diversity of nominees across several categories. ILTA’s Distinguished Peer Award program recognizes premiership and provides a forum for peer-nominated, peer-judged innovations in technology and leadership.

For over three decades, ILTA members have faced challenges in their law firms and law departments, and they’ve shared their struggles and their successes along the way. ILTA’s Distinguished Peer Awards program honors the achievements of those ILTA members who are making technology work for the legal profession. The program recognizes those who have delivered great business value and transformational impact through their innovations and implementations or have been champions in specific areas of focus for their organizations.

Within ILTA’s member community, the awards recognize outstanding achievements in organizational and individual excellence, and our vendors are recognized for superior achievements in innovation and thought-leadership.

Recipients were presented their awards during the annual award ceremony on August 19 in conjunction with ILTA’s annual educational conference, ILTA 2014, held in Nashville.

“On behalf of ILTA, I congratulate this year’s Distinguished Peer Award winners,” said Randi Mayes, executive director of ILTA. “We are proud to recognize exceptional technology projects and the champions of those projects, and I applaud and celebrate our winners for sharing their successes.”
