Igor Stadnik is a shareholder with Keesal, Young & Logan in its Seattle office. His practice focuses on a broad range of cases in state and federal courts, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and various other regulatory agencies as well as advisory matters. From 2018–2021, Igor was selected to the Washington Rising Star list by Super Lawyers Magazine, a designation earned by less than 2.5 percent of attorneys in a geographic region.

Securities Litigation
Igor’s securities practice consists of defending financial service firms against allegations of fraud, unsuitability, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and violations of other state and federal securities laws. He also represents broker-dealers and financial advisors in expungement proceedings before FINRA and in state court and provides guidance to clients in the early stages of customer disputes with the aim of efficiently resolving conflicts before any claims are filed.

Maritime Practice
In his maritime practice, Igor has defended regional, national, and international maritime clients against a broad range of civil claims in state and federal courts involving cargo, personal injury, property damage, and other commercial disputes. He has also conducted multiple investigations of alleged environmental violations by companies and their employees and defended against related criminal charges brought by state and federal agencies.

Employment Litigation and Advice
Igor represents employers in arbitration and administrative proceedings involving claims for wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, fraud, defamation, and breach of contract. His employment advisory practice consists of providing employers guidance regarding wage and hour matters, hiring practices, the enforceability of non-compete agreements, termination, and employee classification for purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Bankruptcy
Igor’s bankruptcy experience includes advising clients with respect to protective actions in advance of debtors filing for bankruptcy, obtaining relief from automatic stays to permit pursuit of collection and foreclosure actions, opposing attempts by debtors to extinguish liens, and defending against state and federal claims for damages and/or injunctive relief in adversary proceedings brought by debtors and trustees.

Commercial and Residential Real Estate Lending Litigation
Igor represents numerous commercial banks and mortgage lending companies against claims arising from the origination and servicing of mortgages as well as for wrongful foreclosure. These matters include claims brought under TILA, RESPA, civil RICO, FDCPA, Washington’s Consumer Protection Act, and various other state and federal laws.

Corporate Advisory
In his corporate advisory practice, Igor provides advice to corporate and individual clients regarding contract disputes, privacy issues, trade secret violations, and many other types of commercial matters. He also provides guidance with respect to licensing and regulatory compliance to out-of-state companies seeking to do business in Washington.

  • Successful representation of a crypto currency co-founder against claims for violation of Washington’s trade secret act and breach of a confidentiality agreement.
  • Prevailed in a hotly contested public records act dispute involving the potential disclosure of trade secrets in connection with a multimillion-dollar request for a proposal to provide transportation services to a local county.
  • Ensured the compliance of a retail installment sales contract for the sale of automobiles that was used state-wide by a prominent consumer lender.
  • Obtained favorable resolution of a personal injury matter involving a claim for a traumatic brain injury where there was significant exposure to a punitive damages award.
  • Secured settlement of a complex products liability case involving the failure of a lithium-ion battery in a maritime application that caused a fire and significant damage to a state-of-the-art vessel.
  • Dismissal of a federal agency action involving allegations of environmental violations made by a whistleblower that could have resulted in a multimillion-dollar fine.
