Teresa Thong is an associate with Keesal, Young & Logan in its Long Beach office. Her practice focuses on civil litigation, representing clients in securities, employment, insurance, and privacy and data security matters. Teresa received her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2019. While at UCLA, Teresa served as a writing advisor for Legal Research and Writing, received training as a Restorative Justice leader, and was awarded the Masin Family Academic Excellence Gold award for the highest course performance in Advanced Corporate Law.
As part of her litigation practice, Teresa has represented financial services firms, registered representatives, and registered investment advisors both in court and in FINRA arbitration proceedings. She has defended clients against claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, violation of the Business and Professions Code, unfair business practices, fraud, suitability-related claims, negligence and negligent supervision, and violations of state and federal securities laws. Teresa also has experience defending employers in arbitration and judicial proceedings involving claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wrongful interference, retaliation, unfair competition, breach of contract, defamation, non-solicitation and misappropriation of trade secrets.
In addition to her litigation practice, Teresa is a member of Keesal, Young & Logan’s Privacy and Data Security practice. Teresa is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals in United States private sector privacy law (CIPP/US) and European Union privacy and data protection law (CIPP/E). She has experience advising clients with compliance under both U.S. and international privacy laws, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), the California Financial Information Privacy Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Prior to law school, Teresa graduated summa cum laude from the Macaulay Honors College and the City College of New York in 2016 with a B.A. in political science. Before entering the practice of law, Teresa was a competitive figure skater and figure skating coach in Queens, New York.
