On Sept. 28, 2010, The California Bar Foundation announced the awarding of $180,000 in scholarships to 28 California law students through its Diversity Scholarship Program. As one of 18 top law firms and corporations to have made a multi-year commitment to the scholarship program, including $10,000 gifts in 2010, Keesal, Young & Logan is honored to help support such a diverse array of future law professionals.

Launched in 2008, the Diversity Scholarship aims to help bolster the pipeline of diverse individuals entering the legal profession. With awards of up to $7,500, this program alleviates the significant financial burden of attending law school and provides confidence-boosting recognition to law students during the crucial first year of law school.

Recipients, who come from communities underrepresented in the legal profession, were selected from a competitive pool of more than 250 applicants based on academic excellence, financial need and commitment to the community. Since the Foundation launched the scholarship program in 2008, it has awarded more than $420,000 to 70 California law students.

On behalf of the firm, KYL partners Skip Keesal and Bill Collier will be attending the scholarship reception to present one of the Diversity Scholarship winners, Jessica Flores, with her award. The scholarship reception will be held on Sept. 30, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, located at 355 South Grand Avenue in Los Angeles.
