Hillary Darnell is an associate with Keesal, Young & Logan in its Long Beach office. Hillary’s practice focuses on a wide variety of civil litigation matters in the securities, mortgage banking, and maritime industries. She defends major financial institutions in state and federal actions involving alleged violations of numerous state and federal laws governing lender-borrower relations and judicial and nonjudicial foreclosures. Hillary advises major securities firms with respect to customer complaints against financial advisors. She also has extensive experience in advising clients that are not depository financial institutions regarding the use and applicability of the California Finance Lender Law and assists clients in applying for and obtaining licensure as a California Finance Lender. Hillary additionally has appellate briefing experience.
Hillary graduated with a B.S. in international relations and a minor in Spanish from the University of Southern California in 2009. While at the University of Southern California, Hillary was named to the Dean’s List and interned for Latham & Watkins LLP and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
In 2013, Hillary received her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law. Hillary was a teaching assistant for Legal Research & Writing and an associate editor for the Journal of National Association of Administrative Law Judiciary. While in law school, Hillary served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and worked as a legal clerk in the Office of International Affairs of the Criminal Division for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
