Samantha Renée Smith is an associate with Keesal, Young & Logan in its Anchorage office. Ms. Smith received her B.A. in sociology from Fordham University in New York in 1999, and graduated cum laude from New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts in 2006. During law school, Ms. Smith was the business managing editor for the New England Law Review, published her Note: The Current Fate of the Lobster Fishery and a Proposal for Change, 40 New Eng. L. Rev. 663, received the CALI award for highest academic achievement in Environmental Law, was a first and second year Student Bar Association Representative, and participated in both the Environmental Law and Land Use clinics. As an undergraduate at Fordham University, Ms. Smith was a member of the women's varsity crew team, and four-time Atlantic Ten Champion. Ms. Smith was recently inducted into Fordham University's athletic hall of fame. During Ms. Smith's academic career, she studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland; Xiamen, China; and Prague, Czech Republic. From 2006-2007, Ms. Smith clerked for the Alaska State District Court in Anchorage.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Smith worked with a variety of animals at the following public display facilities as both an animal trainer and intern: The Audubon Aquarium, in New Orleans, LA; The San Diego Wild Animal Park in San Diego, CA; The Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, AK; The National Aquarium in Baltimore, in Baltimore, MD; and, The Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration in Mystic, CT.
Ms. Smith was admitted into the Alaska bar in 2006 and is currently a member of the Alaska Bar Association.
