Practice Areas: Maritime, Employment,
Environmental, Product Liability
Ms. Harriss concentrates her practice on litigation, counseling
and mediation, with an emphasis on maritime, employment, environmental and product
liability matters. She has experience representing individuals and businesses
in the maritime, banking, fishing, real estate, manufacturing, financial and insurance industries.
Ms. Harriss has spoken to industry and professional groups on a variety of subjects,
including vessel arrest procedures, discrimination in the workplace, and sexual
harassment. She has taught Admiralty and Maritime Law at the University of
Washington School of Law. She has served on various boards and committees for
industry and professional groups, as well as numerous non-profit organizations.
Ms. Harriss has volunteered with Seattle Neighborhood Legal Clinics, providing pro
bono legal assistance to individuals in need. Ms. Harriss currently
sits on the Building Leadership Team of the John Stanford International School
in Seattle.
Ms. Harriss received her undergraduate degree from St. John's College in Annapolis,
Maryland in 1986. In 1991, she graduated cum laude from Tulane University
School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana. While in law school, Ms. Harriss served
as Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal. Ms Harriss
is a member of the Washington State Bar and is admitted to practice in all federal
and state courts in Washington, and the United States Court of Claims in Washington,
D.C. Ms. Harriss sits on the panel of mediators designated by Federal Rule
of Civil Procedure 39.1 for the United States District Court for the Western District
of Washington. She is a Proctor Member of the Maritime Law Association.
