David
Taylor has served as Special Advisor to the London International Underwriting Association
("IUA"). Prior to joining the IUA, the world's largest representative organisation
for international and wholesale insurance and reinsurance companies,
Mr. Taylor was a
solicitor with the London-based law firms of Hill Taylor Dickinson and Clifford
Chance. His practice extended to Asia, Europe and particularly the United
States.
Mr. Taylor also served as Legal Manager of the UK Chamber of Shipping. He has represented
shipping interests at IMO (International Maritime Organisation), UNCTAD (United
Nations Committee on Trade and Development), UNCITRAL (United Nations Committee
on International Trade Law), and at Diplomatic Conferences where he was instrumental
in establishing international treaties.
In addition to his legal expertise, Mr. Taylor has served as a Director of a P&I
management company and a war risk mutual management company leading to his extensive
marine insurance relationships in London, Japan, and the U.S. market. He has
served as the Permanent Secretary to the London Market Joint Hull Committee since
1999, and the immediate past Chairman and Honorary Fellow of the Association of
Average Adjusters of the United Kingdom. He is also a member of the Tulane
University Admiralty Law Institute Advisory Board, a Vice President of Maritime
London, and Chairman of the Equasis Editorial Board.
Mr. Taylor is a well-recognised, accredited, registered, and experienced mediator in
insurance and international trade law disputes. He has spoken regularly at
insurance and marine industry events in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia,
the Middle East, Europe, and the U.S.
