Catharine Morisset is an associate with Keesal, Young & Logan in its Seattle office, where her practice covers a variety of litigation and counseling in most of the firm's practice areas, including, maritime, employment, products liability, and securities. Ms. Morisset's maritime practice encompasses investigation and litigation of traditional maritime claims, including personal injury, cargo loss and damage, and vessel casualties. She has defended employers in wage & hour and employment discrimination cases in both administrative and judicial proceedings, and she advises clients regarding compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations. Ms. Morisset has also represented securities broker-dealers in arbitrations before the NASD/FINRA, as well as in state regulatory investigations.
Ms. Morisset has successfully briefed and argued cases before both the Washington State Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. This includes authoring the winning brief in a case involving federal labor law preemption of state law wage & hour claims.
Ms. Morisset received her undergraduate degree from the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington in 1994, and she received a certificate in French language from the University of Nantes, France. She graduated cum laude from Tulane University School of Law, where she served as Senior Articles Editor of the Tulane Journal of International & Comparative Law.
Before joining Keesal, Young & Logan, Ms. Morisset clerked for the Honorable C. C. Bridgewater at Division II of the Washington State Court of Appeals. Ms. Morisset is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Washington.
