BENJAMIN W. WHITE

Practice Areas: Appellate, Class Actions, Employment, Securities

Ben White is a lawyer in Keesal, Young & Logan's San Francisco office. Mr. White represents some of the world's largest companies, including many banks and Wall Street firms, in commercial litigation in federal and state court, as well as in arbitration. Mr. White's main areas of practice are securities, employment, and general commercial litigation. He has arbitrated and won cases in several states, including California, New York and Arizona, argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and participated in a bench trial before the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. In addition, he authored the winning briefs in a case before the California Court of Appeal regarding arbitration of employment claims.

In his securities practice, Mr. White represents securities firms, registered investment advisors and other licensed individuals in the securities industry. He has defended numerous securities arbitrations in various forums, including the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). He also represents securities firms and their registered representatives in regulatory matters.

In his employment practice, Mr. White defends employers in proceedings involving claims for wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, defamation, whistleblower, wage and hour, breach of contract, and related causes of action. Mr. White has also handled several large wage and hour class action cases involving employee classification and pay. In addition to his employment litigation work, Mr. White advises clients on day-to-day employment issues such as compliance with wage and hour laws, development of compensation plans, and preparation of employment-related policies and procedures.

In his general commercial litigation practice, Mr. White represents companies of all sizes in cases involving a variety of tort and contract claims, including claims for negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair business practices, breach of contract, and related causes of action.

Mr. White graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona, where he received his B.A. degree in political science in 1997. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2002, where he was a member of the Constitutional Law Quarterly and the Criminal Procedure Moot Court Team. Mr. White was admitted to the California Bar and joined Keesal, Young & Logan in 2002.
