SAN FRANCISCO, CA – July 11, 2017 – Law firm Keesal, Young & Logan (KYL) today announced the hire of Wendy Riggs from Twitter and the launch of its new Compliance, Operations and Data Control Advisory (CODA) division. A Certified eDiscovery Specialist (CEDS) and seasoned legal operations professional, Wendy led eDiscovery and Litigation Operations at Twitter before she joined KYL as a Senior Advisor.

KYL developed CODA to formalize ongoing efforts to help clients adapt to an increasingly complex regulatory and security environment against the backdrop of rapidly evolving technology. At KYL, Wendy and the CODA division will partner with clients to identify and prioritize new opportunities to reduce risk, increase efficiency and ensure compliance.

CODA will provide cost-efficient, highly customized consulting services to help clients devise strategies in the following areas:

  • Data security and reporting compliance gap analysis
  • Information governance and records retention
  • Data mapping
  • Workflow assessment
  • eDiscovery tools, workflows and best practices
  • Vendor selection and related risk assessment procedures
  • Data privacy and GDPR compliance gap analysis

KYL attorney and shareholder Julie Taylor, who will be working closely with the CODA team, said: “Technology is changing business at such a rapid pace that legacy approaches to managing data and workflows no longer apply.  Clients are looking for expert assistance to help them control their data, manage risk, and eliminate inefficiency. We developed the CODA service group to address these issues.  Wendy’s expertise is a perfect complement to our existing resources and experience, and we are thrilled to welcome her on board.”

Justin Hectus, CIO and CISO at KYL, remarked: “CODA’s mission underscores our firm’s longstanding dedication to efficiency, technical excellence and superior client service.   CODA provides clients with the opportunity to access highly specialized resources without having to increase headcount.”

Wendy Riggs said: “This is the right firm and the right time for CODA.  KYL has an amazing corporate culture and an established reputation as innovative and always at the forefront of new developments in operations and technology.  Joining forces with Justin, Julie and the unparalleled team of professionals at KYL gives us the opportunity to provide unique and timely insights and solutions to clients.”
